They Devoted Themselves: Thoughts on Acts 2 and Riverside Fellowship
The book of Acts has played a pivotal role in the story of Riverside Fellowship from the very beginning, especially Acts 2. There has always been a deep desire to look as much like that early church as possible. From the early verses about the coming of the Holy Spirit on that first group of 120 believers, to the large group of people who come to faith after Peter’s sermon, Riverside has sought to follow the Spirit’s leading in all things. Acts 2:42 says the early church devoted themselves to four things:
And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. Acts 2:42
We had a handful of people from the Riverside faith family share their thoughts on how Acts 2 has shaped the early days of the church. How the focus of the early church in Acts 2 on “the apostles teaching, the fellowship, the breaking of bread, and prayer” is influencing what a new church in Nolensville, TN is pursuing nearly 2,000 years later. Listen to their stories below.
